Concert cycle “DIALOGUES”
Concert one
“GEORG PELECIS – VLADIMIR MARTYNOV. CORRESPONDENCE”
Piano duet Natalia Gromova and Valery Borovikov
***
This work is literally based on the correspondence of two composers, close friends, former classmates, like-minded artists Vladimir Martynov and Georg Pelecis. Their musical correspondence began with a verbal letter from Pelecis, to which he attached a small musical fragment. Martynov responded with his musical text, created in response to the proposed topic. With each letter, the topic began to acquire new options. As a result of the addition of new parts, the “Correspondence” created by two composers begins to exist as a single work, a cycle-dialogue for two pianos of 13 parts, following one after another non-stop. This music reflects and unites various styles that have developed in the musical art of past eras and reflects the style of piano works by F.Schubert, F.Mendelssohn, R.Schumann, slow movements of sonatas by L. van Beethoven, pop and rock music.
