“CELLO FIESTA” – a new program of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus, which will continue the cycle of concerts “Rising Stars”. For many years the orchestra's artistic director and chief conductor Evgeny Bushkov has been presenting brilliant young musicians who later became world-class soloists.
This time on the stage of the Philharmonic will perform students of the Central Music School – Academy of Performing Arts (Moscow), pupils of Maria Zhuravleva’s class.
Maria Zhuravleva has been teaching cello at the Central Music School since 1981, and in 2014 she was recognized as “Best Teacher of the Year” in the category “Cello”. She conducts master classes in many Russian cities, as well as in South Korea and the USA; she is the author of the book “Maybe My Child is Mozart?” and her own method of teaching beginning cellists.
During her years of work at the Central Music School, Maria Zhuravleva has educated a large number of famous musicians: Borislav Strulev – winner of the Tchaikovsky Youth Competition (Moscow); Tatiana Vasilieva – winner of the ARD Competition (Munich, Germany); Alexander Ramm – winner of the ІІ prize of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition; Mikhail Veselov – winner of First Prize at the Citta di Barletta International Competition (Bari, Italy); Maria Yurievna’s son Sergei Antonov – winner of the I Prize at the 2007 Tchaikovsky Competition, also on the list of outstanding pupils.
One of the soloists of the concert – Tamara Slutsker – is already familiar to Minsk listeners, thanks to a bright performance with the State Chamber Orchestra conducted by Evgeny Bushkov. The other young cellists – Mirra Klebanova, Zoya Dudenkova and Adrian Markevich – will make their debut on the stage of the Belarusian State Philharmonic.
