“The Seasons” by P.Tchaikovsky is a famous cycle of 12 pieces for piano, created by order of the magazine “Nouvellist” in 1876. Pictures of Russian nature and life, the cycle of heat and cold, blossoming and fading – each of the 12 diverse pieces reflects the mood of a certain month, is its musical interpretation.
Adagio in B minor, KV 540 by W.A.Mozart is one of the pearls of the composer’s work. The work was written in 1788. This musical and philosophical reflection, filled with deep melancholy and inner light, which is characteristic of Mozart’s late style.
Sonata No.2 for piano by D.Shostakovich, created in 1943, at the height of the Great Patriotic War, became a reflection of the tragic events of that time. Its deeply dramatic concept is based on powerful contrasts - between grief and bright hope. This is one of the composer’s most personal works, dedicated to the memory of his teacher Leonid Nikolaev.
