Musical for children and adults “ROYAL SANDWICH”
The plot of the musical fairy tale for children was based on “The Ballad of the Royal Sandwich” by the English writer Alan Milne, the author of the popular fairy tale about Winnie the Pooh. The music for the performance was written by the famous St. Petersburg composer, Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR Georgy Portnov.
“Royal Sandwich” is a witty, ironic piece of music with a simple, uncomplicated plot. According to an old English tradition, the King should eat only oatmeal for breakfast. One morning, the King decides it's time to break this good old tradition and demands a sandwich for breakfast - fresh bread with butter. How to restore order in the kingdom and pacify the capricious nobleman?
The main character in the musical fairy tale is Matilda the Cow. She sacredly honors traditions, and the King violates them. This is what the dramaturgy of the opera is based on. The performance includes an exit aria of the Cow, an arioso of the Queen about marmalade, a duet of the Maid and the angry King, and other entertaining episodes.
A funny plot, bright musical characteristics of the characters, the original design of the performance, and most importantly – easy to understand, close to Mozart’s music – will attract young spectators and delight adults.
