ROCK OPERA “CRUCIFIED YOUTH”
An emotional musical story-pain tries to present the legend known from history textbooks about the activities of the underground youth organization “Young Guard” through the eyes of modern youth.
During the Great Patriotic War, the organization operated in the city of Krasnodon for four months in 1942. About a hundred teenagers who were part of the organization showed unity in their opposition to the fascist regime. Their activities were treacherously revealed, most of the young people suffered cruel torture and were executed. But, leaving their short, like a moment, life to the executioners, they took with them into eternity the bright hope that their work was not in vain.
The theater tried not to state well-known facts, but to talk about its emotional attitude to the events in the language of music, light, plasticity and to present the teenage Young Guards, who will no longer experience paternal pride and the joy of motherhood, as heroes, as martyrs, before whom one must bow their heads.
Compressed facts superimposed on the aggressive melody of war, bright colors of hope, the presence of inevitable Fate, a combination of a fatal style of performance, lyrical solo, symbolic aesthetics - all this bright form is designed to communicate with young people in modern non-verbal ways.
The authors of the project, which is significant for the theater, were creative figures well known to the residents of Luhansk region.
